On July 3rd we had a HUGE I mean HUGE fire right near us, about 10 min. away in the city of Alpine. My three youngest boys school is in Alpine. Officials said that the fire was manmade, and was started by an individual working with a trackhoe near the Alpine rodeo grounds. It was up on the Mountains not far from multi million dollar homes!! It charred over 5000 acres. It was crazy being that close to a fire that big!!!! They ended up evacuating a lot of neighborhoods and closing American Fork canyon for the entire 4th of July holiday, it was closed for quite a few days!!! The boys and I went up to see the fire just about 20 min. after it was going and to make sure there school was ok. We got great pictures of it as it was in it’s early stages of burning. On the night of 4th of July since fire works were prohibited in A LOT of the cities near us we went and watched the fire at night!! crazy how the entire mountain was on fire and just watching it climb the mountain was crazy!!!!! It took about a good week for it to be 100% contained!!! Now as we are approaching fall and winter they are very concerned about flooding on those mountains that were charred. I think this is a fire my boys will remember for ever and how dangerously close it was to us!!!! check out these surreal photos!
